May 9--Moab, La Sal Mountains

Rest day today! We decided to take it easy today and take a drive on asphalt (mostly) into the mountains just south of Moab-the La Sals. The two tallest peaks are over 12,000 and still completely covered in snow.

For a special treat, we ate buffalo burgers at Milt's Stop and Eat (a Moab favorite with the extreme sports crowd since 1954). It had a walk up order window and a few tables outside vieing for the shade of one ole tree. But it was breezy and fun to watch all the mountain bikers and tenters (you can tell this group by the rumpled clothes and sweaty hair). We had a shower today so we didn't really fit in, but we pretended that we had really worked hard climbing mountains (instead of napping on the sofa under the air).
Picture 4 are the LaSals taken from out campsite.

  2. I can't believe the snow! Finch asked today when it's going to snow again instead of raining. I need to show him these pictures. Amazing view from your site!
